Sarah Young

Senior Vice President

Sarah is a Senior Vice President at Cassidy & Associates where she utilizes her extensive background in appropriations on Capitol Hill to identify opportunities and achieve results for her clients. During her 21-year tenure with the House Committee on Appropriations, Sarah served in numerous roles – establishing her deep knowledge of the legislative process and federal funding programs. Sarah was on the Appropriations Committee’s Majority staff through both Democratic and Republican-led Congresses, developing the acumen to reach across the aisle and garner bipartisan support for various issues. She knows the Committees’ Members and their staff, understands their priorities and is able to navigate the political landscape.

Sarah joined the Cassidy team in September 2021 after most recently serving as an analyst/professional staff for Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Committee on Appropriations. From her assignments in different Appropriations subcommittees throughout the years, Sarah specialized in the subcommittees and corresponding funding bills for Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies; Defense; and Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. Her responsibilities in these subcommittees covered issues including military construction, family housing, defense medical research and procurement, TRICARE, Defense Health Program, missile defense, counternarcotics, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Office of Surface Mining and Reclamation. 

Prior to joining the House Committee on Appropriations, Sarah worked for four years in the personal office of Rep. Curt Weldon, a Republican from southeastern Pennsylvania.

Sarah has expertise within the defense, environment and healthcare space.

Sarah is a native of Pennsylvania and a graduated from the University of Delaware with her BA in Political Science and French. She lives in Virginia and is the spouse of a retired Navy Captain.
